So...Just what is Olympians? Olympians is our new Children's Activity for Wednesdays Nights.  Olympians is a fusion of Discipleship and Missions.  The night will start off with the Opening Ceremony. This is a crazy time where we will sing some upbeat songs, play a silly game, or give you a chance to win a cool prize! You will then hear a message from God’s Word on things you struggle with as a kid. After this we will all break into our PT groups (personal training) for about 20 minutes. During this time you will be discipled spiritually and encouraged to do the daily disciplines that God asks of you. Also, the evening will include a special time called the Big O-VENT Game time where we play some crazy games in the gym.

So...What kind of Activities will we be doing during the year? There will be all kinds of incredible activities throughout the whole year!   In February 2008, we will have a Father/Daughter Date Night and a Mother/Son Night. The Olympian 500 (which is a huge race with cars the children will build) takes place in March 2008.  Everyone will participate in the Shoot-Out for Missions, in innner city Mission Trips, Service Projects, and so much more.  Everyone will also get a chance to hang out in their PT groups not only on Wednesday nights but also during the week.  So get ready to have a BLAST while serving Jesus Christ!

So...What do I need to do to get plugged in? Olympians only costs $10 dollars for the entire year.  This goes to buy your Olympians devotional book that lasts for the whole year.  Each boy and girl will be working through their devotional book, learning scripture and the books of the Bible, doing mission projects, and reading Christian books to help work towards earning their Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal.  As you complete your tasks, you will work your way towards recieving your Gold medal in Olympians.  This is a fun way to be rewarded for serving God, plus the medals are so sweet-looking! The Awards Ceremony takes place in May and is called "The Big Deal."

The Children's Staff  is so excited about this Program and what it has to offer the Children at Kirby Woods and Children in our surrounding neighborhood.  The most important task for a Christian is to spend time with Jesus and grow closer to Him.  This program is designed not just to show kids the importance of Missions but to, most importantly, teach boys and girls how to have a true personal relationship with Christ.  When you ask Jesus in your heart it doesn't just stop there - this is when it all begins!  These boys and girls will not only be plugged into an accountability group in Olympians but will also be taught how to have a quiet time, learn scripture, take notes during the service, be held accountable for their life, and so much more.  We really believe that if you will get your children plugged into our Olympian program, not only will their lives change, but you will start to see a big change in your family's life as well.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to call the children's department.
