ONE BY ONE MINISTRIES
One By One Ministries trains mentors and prayer partners to minister to mothers during a pregnancy and the first year of the baby’s life. The next training is scheduled for Saturday, October 16. There is an ongoing need for mentors and prayer partners at Kirby, as well as $5 gift cards to Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby. Moriah House has an ongoing need for the following items: phone cards, stamps, writing tablets.  Please call 522-8819 if you would like to donate any of these items.   

 
A WAY OUT
A WAY OUT (sponsored by Citizens for Community Values of Memphis, Inc. aka CCV) 
    This is a ministry geared toward women coming out of the adult entertainment industry.  
Below are a few of the things A Way Out volunteers do, followed by a list of needs:
  • bring meals Tuesday nights for the women, children and mentors who attend Growth Group;
  • provide transportation to counseling, doctors, school, work, etc. for the women who do not have vehicles;
  • bring clothes for the AWO Clothes Closet for women and children;
  • lead Bible studies for the women or provide childcare for the children;
  • serve as mentors to the women, loving them and showing them what it means to live a Christ-centered life. 
  • Needed:  dishwashing liquid (hand), liquid laundry detergent, dryer sheets, bleach, toilet tissue, Tampons and Kroger gift cards.

BRINKLEY HEIGHTS
High school youth and adults are needed to tutor 2nd to 5th grade children at Brinkley Heights Urban Academy on Monday evenings for 1½ hours August 23-May 16. A required orientation/training is Monday night, August 16. Tutors must be active church members willing to be committed to 2½ hours (1½ tutoring + 1 hour travel time from Kirby) for the whole school year. The goal for the tutor is to form a relationship with the student that can continue throughout the year. At the beginning of each tutoring session, there will be a devotional and prayer requests. Tutors are encouraged to pray with students, witness, and use the Bible as a reading tool. Applications are at the west registration desk or in the church office.
    
Brinkley Heights can use gently read Christian magazines and devotionals such as:
        
Decision, Homelife, Focus on the Family, In Touch, Mature Living, Our Daily Bread, Stand Firm, Journey, Today's Christian Woman, Christian Parenting, Open Windows, Christian Single, etc.
    
Each family receives a magazine/devotional in their food bag.  They cannot use secular
magazines such as
Reader's Digest, Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, etc.
